Do you want to have "hind's feet"?

Yesterday, I attended the funeral of a dear friend who is now with Jesus, Tammy Hyson. When I went up to hug her husband, Leroy, before the service, He kept thanking me for the"story " that I read to Tammy about 6 weeks ago. My mind was blank, but I thanked him and pondered in my mind"what story did I read to her. Later on, when I came home I decided to pull out a book and share a little bit of it with the moms who were coming to my home for a gathering, because I knew some of them were going through some trials, and when I opened the book, Tammy's phone number and directions to her home were right in the front and the Lord said"This story". I recalled that afternoon, sitting in Tammy's family roomreading her part of the book:Hind's feet" and praying with her and the peace that God was pouring out in the midst of her pain was so evident. The part of the story that I read was about a little girl named"Much Afraid" who wanted hind's feet, so the Shepherd(Jesus) told her she had to hold the hands of his helpers"Sorrow and Suffering".She cried but reluctantly said she would, because this was the only way to get hinds feet. In the end, because of all her trials and sufferings, and her obedience to hold the helpers hands, she receives her hinds feet and the Shepherd changes her name to "Grace and Glory" Today, as Tammy dances around the Throne of Jesus, there is no doubt in my mind that her new name is Grace and Glory!!

All's well that ends well................

After reading all of my daughters and daughter -in-law's wonderful blogs about food and recipes, I thought this would bring a smile to your face. Last week, I decided to make a nice dinner:A whole baked chicken with fresh carrots, potatoes and green beans. I put the chicken in the oven to bake and the green beans in the pan. After going about my business of my everyday busy life, I smelled something burning. I did not put enough water in the pan and my yummy beans were burnt! (we had canned beans instead- Jeremy's favorite) Then when I thought the chicken was done,it was still a little red. So I put it in the microwave to cook it in the middle. When I took it out to cut it up, just before we were to eat, I thought maybe something was wrong with this poor chicken, because it had no breast meat. I kept hacking away, hitting the bone, and then graciously offered my husband the dark meat. When we sat down to eat, the potatoes were hard, and the carrots were "crunchy".I was wondering at this point if anything else could go wrong......only to discover that I had baked the chicken "upside down" and all the breast meat was on the bottom.Do you think this could possibly have been a result of my dyslexia in full motion, or maybe a "senior long moment"?My wonderful husband ended the meal with: All's well that ends well". That made it "All better" :-)

A generous "young woman" will be blessed!!!!

After a short visit home, I took Charissa back to McDaniel College this morning, with her roomate, Libbey to go on a trip to Kentucky to work with other students helping in the Appalchian Mountains. Charissa is not sure what kind of work they will be doing, but she knows the mission is to help others less fortunate than her. As we were on our way I gave them both a "Nugget of Truth" from God's precious word: "The generous Young woman (paraphrased) will be BLESSED and she who refreshes others will herself be refreshed" Proverbs 11:25 .I am so grateful when I see God at work in the lives of my children and family. When most college kids will be hitting the beach and parties, Charissa and Libby will be serving for Christ's sake, to share His Love to a dark world. I reminded them that as they give of their time and energy, "refreshing others" God will pour out His Love, Joy, and Grace, and "refresh them". On my way home from the dropoff, I could just sense the pleasure of God on these students, His peace that passes all understanding and would ask you as friends, to pray for this group of kids: for their safety, for "divine appointments" to share Jesus with others and that the work would be accomplished in Kentucky.

Who is your core??????

Today, I had a very interesting and exciting talk with my youngest child, Charissa. She was sharing with me some of the things that God is working in her life. At one point in our conversation, she said " Mom, there just isn't that many kids on campus who want to "grow" in their relationship with God.People are too comfortable and busy and kind of keep God on the "side".She was referring to a Christian group that she is involved with at McDaniel College. I reminded her that God always has to first, but she responded by saying that too many people do not make Jesus their "Core" or their whole life, just the part that they want. She seemed a little sad about it,and I thought of something that I read this week byBasilea Schlink in "My all for Him": " Jesus is a true Bridegroom; this is His very nature. He waits for His Bride. He does not seek to force love; it must be spontaneous. He knocks softly on the door. He waits until someone opens it. He stands behind the door and looks to see whether His Bride will open up and come out to Him( Song of Sol. 5:2 ) His eyes follow her sadly if all day long she is busy and in a hurry, if she goes about everything quickly and vigorously and yet spiritually is becoming estranged from Him, because she is completely engrossed with her work and earthly business." As I pondered these words, I thought of how happy our precious Lord must be when He is our"Core ", center, Lifeand breath, treasure.......and how we must take time to let Him know of our deep love for Him. I was amazed to see how God is working in my Child's life and how grateful I am as a Mom to see her pursuing God with all her heart and desiring this for her friends. Thanks, Lord, for this opportunity to see your Grace at work in my children.
