Determination.......A gift from God!

Jer and Rach gave my husband, Don, a puzzle for his birthday at the beach. I am not very good at puzzles, but I must say, from my observation, this truely was one of the hardest I've ever seen! It was one thousand pieces, and at the same time a miniature one. Well, I think everybody tried to help at OC, but time ran out and for the first time, in fifteen years of our OC vacation, we wrapped it up ( it was on a board) and brought it home. I am happy to announce that it is now complete!!! (only took two weeks of determination on my hubby's part) As soon as Charissa takes a picture of it we will post it on my blog.Don has "pioneer blood" in him! He tries and tries until he gets the job done! A true blessing to all of us in the Ellis household!

There's no place like home............

Well, we are back!!!!We went to Ocean City for a week of fun, relaxation, lots of putt-putt, walking, yummy treats like "gelati"? and I could go on and on, but there is no place like home! I have to say, my favorite thing about where we stay is the sound of the Ocean waves all day long. And there is nothing like the smell of that Ocean air! The beach house is very "beachy" Nothing fancy to speak of, not very many dishes,we have to bring our towels and sheets, but the smell of the air and the gentle sound of the waves breaking bring peace to my heart even as I sit and type on this computer. I love its simplicity, it's the kind of place that refreshes your soul. So it's back to reality now, the busy life, but I have made it a goal that when I get too caught up in the fast pace , I'm going to quiet my heart in God and use my God-given imagination to recall the waves breaking on the shore and take a deep breath of that Ocean air to soothe and quiet my spirit.

What an exciting day!!!!!

Yesterday morning started out normal, peaceful and quiet, when all of a sudden I heard our neighbor's Husky barking very loudly and he wouldn't stop. When I looked out back,Eileen ( my 84 year old widowed neighbor) looked like she needed help. I ran outside and hopped our fence( kind of like superman) and in the corner sat a little critter, very scared. I am not sure what he was- either a groundhog or a badger, but the electric fence inside her yard was keeping the Husky from eating him!I tried to coax this little guy away from the corner, but he kept hissing at me and whenever I got close, he would take a leap toward me so I told Eileen to take the dog inside and get me some lettuce or greens. Meanwhile I just kept praying out loud and talking to this little guy, trying to explain that I only wanted to help him. I stuck two boards under the fence to make an escape hole, and after much prayer and quietness, he ran under and got out!!!!Yeah God!!!Thanks for your help!!! I do so love your little critters!!!!!

Walking down memory lane.........

Last night, after a wonderful meal with Laura, Lew, Charissa and Don,we proceded to go to the old bedroom where 3 precious sisters all shared a room together for many years , and clean out some of the "junk" that I have been holding on to. It was a bittersweet time for me, because as Laura was reading some of the cards out loud to us, it seemed like only yesterday we were there. I took a huge and very heavy bag to the trashcan this morning( I didn't go through it girls! )but lots of wonderful memories still remain deep in my heart. I am so grateful for the many years God has kept me on this earth to see my children grow up, and now enjoy their children so much!! Parents, savor the moments you have with your little ones. Yes, it can seem so difficult at times, but God's Grace will carry you through those bumps and you are making memories that you will enjoy someday, just like me.
